Chynadiyovo Castle, pt. 2

The interior of the castle:

As you can see, the castle is badly in need of repair. The worst threat to any building, even a modern one, is the lack of a constant temperature. When a building is subject to freezing, then warming up, then freezing again, plaster cracks, mortar fails, and the building quickly disintegrates. There is a current reconstruction project being undertaken to repair the roof. Much of that funding is coming from Hungary, since one of the owners of the castle, Ilona Zrini - the Heroine of the Siege of Palinok Castle - is a national hero of Hungary.

For the past few years, the castle has been the site of a medieval fair, the "Silver Tatosh" fair. Also used to exhibit local art. Currently on display is a collection of eggs, dyed and scraped, portraying copies of Renaissance masterpieces. All done by a local artist, some take as long as a month to create. Because they were behind glass, clear photos were not possible.
