When Putin was a young KGB officer, he was not an intelligence officer, but a disinformation officer. With that background, and using the power of the Russian state, Putin has taken disinformation and propaganda to levels the Soviets never dreamed of!
During the Soviet Era, the Kremlin at least went to the trouble of manufacturing "proof", so that their propaganda had some plausibility of truth. Putin doesn't even care that his propaganda is so obviously fake!
I came upon a Ukrainian website, "StopFake.org", which gives a lot of useful information on detecting doctored photos and news stories. This info can even be useful in determining the truth about news reports in America and the rest of the world. One tip they gave is about identifying Photoshop-ed photos on the Internet. Using Google Chrome, you can right-click on any image, then select the option of searching for that same image in Google. With this technique, you can find the original photo, before it was doctored!
"StopFake.Org" has an entire list of doctored photos from Russian news articles, which they have debunked, including:
1. photos of mutilated bodies, actually taken in Saudi Arabia, presented as Ukrainian atrocities.
2. photoshopped images of Donetsk being burned to the ground.
3. Burning tanks in China, presented as being in Donbas
4. photos actually taken in Bosnia, falsely representing Ukrainian military murdering civilians
5. a man being crushed by a Ukrainian tank - the photo was actually shot in Dagestan
etc, etc, etc!!!!!
I recommend everyone go to

and see for yourself Putin's propaganda efforts.
Last year, 2013, I spent a month staying and living with my relatives in their village outside Uzhgorod. I’ve written this blog describing my trip and experiences in Zakarpattia. I’ve also included hundreds of photos I hope you will enjoy, as well as some video and audio recordings of Rusyn folk songs and Prostopinije “plainchant” hymns from Greek Catholic services. I will be returning to Ukraine in September, this time for a 3 month stay, and I will continue writing and posting photo’s.
